A rigid box (also called a set-up box) is made from thick greyboard or chipboard — typically 1.5mm to 3mm — wrapped with printed paper. It does not fold flat. Think iPhone boxes, luxury cosmetics packaging, or high-end chocolate boxes. The structure is permanent and sturdy.

What Is a Folding Carton?

A folding carton is made from a single sheet of paperboard (usually 250–400gsm) that is die-cut, folded, and glued. It ships flat and is assembled when needed. Think cereal boxes, cosmetic secondary packaging, or retail product boxes.
